Author Guidelines

1.      Manuscript Template:

The manuscript must use the Journal Template, which can be downloaded from the following link: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1AkIBKYToV8KNMirsJ7-WXmUki6dovTgD/edit

2.      Scope of the Journal:

The Journal of Digital Communication covers a wide range of topics, including but not limited to:

  • Digital Communication and New Media, including human interaction through digital platforms;
  • Social Media Platforms and User Communication Behavior;
  • Digital Culture and the Transformation of Public Communication;
  • Digital Marketing Communication, marketing strategies on digital platforms, branding, and engagement through social media;
  • Digital Journalism and Online Media, including journalism practices in the digital era, disinformation, hoaxes, and digital journalism ethics;
  • Digital Public Relations;
  • Artificial Intelligence in Mass Communication;
  • Political Communication and Digital Participation, including political campaigns in digital media;
  • Intercultural Communication and Identity in the Digital World, including cultural representation and identity in online media, gender issues, inclusion, and diversity in digital spaces;
  • Virtual Communities and Digital Social Construction.

3.      Language:

Manuscripts must be written in clear and proper British English or American English. Therefore, the use of a professional proofreader is highly recommended before submission.

4.      Formatting:

The article should be typed in one-and-a-half spacing on A4 paper size, using Cambria font, size 12.

5.      Length of Manuscript:

The manuscript should contain approximately 5,000–10,000 words. Only manuscripts within this word count range will proceed to the review stage.

6.      Abstract:

Each submission must include an abstract of 100–350 words, written in British or American English.

7.      File Format:

The manuscript must be submitted in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect file format.

8.      Author Information:

The full name(s) of the author(s) must be stated, along with their institutional affiliation and complete address. The maximum number of authors and co-authors per manuscript is five (5).

9.      Citation and References:

For citation and reference formatting, JODICOM follows the Oxford University Standard for the Citation of Legal Authorities (OSCOLA). 10.  Article Structure:

The body of the article must follow the IMRaD structure (Introduction, Methods, Results, and Discussion), and should end with a Conclusion.

11.  Title Length:

The title should not exceed 14 words.

12.  Author Diversity Policy:

Authors or co-authors who have published in a current issue will only be considered for publication in the following year’s issue.

13.  Compliance:

Manuscripts that do not conform to these author guidelines will be declined and will not proceed to the next review stage.

14.  Examples of Citation and Bibliography:

Examples of footnote references and bibliography formats are provided in the following section.

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
