Respon Netizen X Terhadap Kasus Tayangan Trans 7 Yang Dianggap Hina Kiai Dan Pesantren

Abstract

This study examines netizens’ responses on the X platform to a Trans7 television program that was perceived as insulting kiai and Islamic boarding schools (pesantren). This issue is significant as it illustrates how public opinion is formed in digital spaces when religious issues emerge. The purpose of this study is to identify the forms and directions of netizens’ responses to the case. This research employs a qualitative descriptive method based on Public Opinion Theory, which explains how public views are shaped through communication on social media. Data were collected through digital content analysis of netizens’ comments and posts discussing the case. The results indicate that most netizens expressed negative responses, perceiving Trans7 as disrespectful toward religious figures and pess. A small number of responses were neutral, while positive responses were very limited. This finding shows that religious issues remain highly sensitive and have a strong influence on the formation of public opinion on social media.
